Not sure how dark to go? That's what the samples and heat box are for. Miguel shows you each shade in real light, lets you feel what each film stops, and helps you pick one that's legal in Illinois and suits your car. Every job is booked ahead and done one car at a time, and the person who quotes your car is the person who tints it.

Darker isn't the only way to a cooler car. Union Ceramic's heat rejection comes from the ceramic in the film, not just its darkness, so even a lighter shade keeps a lot of infrared heat out, up to 87% at its best. Union Carbon rejects 75% and gives a deep, even look without metal. Both block 99.99% of UV. Miguel's past work runs from a Kia K5 and a Mazda 3 to a BMW X5 and a Mercedes G-Wagon.

Home and business window film
Home and business window film in Alsip
Alsip homes and businesses have their film fitted on site, with Miguel measuring each window himself. Picture windows that face the sun are a good fit for Neutral, which cuts solar heat while keeping the view natural. Ceramic does a similar job with low reflection and adds UV control. For glass you'd rather nobody could see through, like a side door or an office partition, White Out and Black Out do that job.

Questions
Window tinting questions from Alsip
Do you tint cars for people in Alsip?
Yes. Alsip is about 5.3 miles from the shop at 8040 S Knox Ave; head north on Cicero Avenue toward 79th Street. Tinting is by appointment only, so call (773) 307-6801 before you come.
Do you install window film at homes and businesses in Alsip?
Yes. Miguel comes to the property to measure and fit it. Union's range covers solar heat (Neutral), heat with daytime privacy (Silver), heat and UV with low reflection (Ceramic), and full privacy (White Out and Black Out).
Do I need dark tint to keep the heat out?
No. Union Ceramic's heat rejection doesn't depend only on how dark it is, so a lighter shade can still keep a lot of heat out, and both Union films block 99.99% of UV. Miguel can show you on his heat box, so you choose by feel, not just by darkness.
How dark can I tint my car windows in Illinois?
It depends on the vehicle. On a car, the front side windows beside the driver can be 35%, letting in at least 35% of light, as long as no window behind the driver is darker than 35%, so keep the back windows at 35% or lighter. On an SUV, van or pickup, the windows behind the driver can be any shade, but if they're darker than 35%, like the factory privacy glass on most SUVs, trucks and vans, the front side windows must let in at least 50% of light. The windshield can only have a non-reflective strip along the top, no more than 6 inches down. A medical exemption exists with a physician's certified statement and the state's plate or sticker. Laws change, so check the current law; the Illinois Window Tint Law page has the details.
