Window tinting in Hometown
Window tinting for Hometown drivers and homes
No town on Miguel's list is closer than Hometown. His shop at 8040 S Knox Ave is about 0.9 miles away, near 79th and Cicero, so getting your car there is a short drive.
That makes it easy to see the films before you decide. At your appointment, Miguel puts the samples in your hand and lets you feel the difference on his heat box. He tints one car at a time, keeps the shop spotless, heated and well lit, and does the whole job himself. For your house, the trip goes the other way: he comes to you.
Car window tinting
Car window tinting for Hometown
A car parked in the sun soaks up heat all afternoon, and the dashboard and seats take the worst of it. Union Ceramic turns away up to 87% of infrared heat and 65% of total solar energy, so the cabin isn't as hot when you get back in. Union Carbon rejects 75% of infrared and 61% of total solar energy. Both stop 99.99% of UV, the rays that fade a dashboard over the years.

Home and business window film
Home and business window film in Hometown
Hometown is close enough that a home visit is simple: Miguel comes by to measure and fit the film. If one room gets all the sun, Neutral cuts heat and glare and keeps the glass looking natural, and Ceramic cuts heat and UV with low reflection, so floors and furniture fade more slowly. For a front door or bathroom window, White Out turns clear glass opaque white. Businesses in Hometown are fitted on site too.

Questions
Window tinting questions from Hometown
Do you tint cars for people in Hometown?
Yes. Hometown is about 0.9 miles from Miguel's shop at 8040 S Knox Ave, the closest town he covers. Cars are tinted at the shop by appointment only; call (773) 307-6801 to book a time.
Will you come to my Hometown house to fit window film?
Yes. Home and business film is measured and fitted at the property, so Miguel comes to you. Union's range covers heat, glare and privacy: Neutral, Silver, Ceramic, White Out and Black Out.
Can I see the tint shades before I choose?
Yes. Miguel keeps samples and a heat box at the shop. You can hold each shade up to the light, see how dark it looks, and feel how much heat Union Carbon and Union Ceramic stop before you pick one.
How dark can I tint my car windows in Illinois?
It depends on the vehicle. On a car, the front side windows beside the driver can be 35%, letting in at least 35% of light, as long as no window behind the driver is darker than 35%, so keep the back windows at 35% or lighter. On an SUV, van or pickup, the windows behind the driver can be any shade, but if they're darker than 35%, like the factory privacy glass on most SUVs, trucks and vans, the front side windows must let in at least 50% of light. The windshield can only have a non-reflective strip along the top, no more than 6 inches down. A medical exemption exists with a physician's certified statement and the state's plate or sticker. Laws change, so check the current law; the Illinois Window Tint Law page has the details.
