Window tinting in Chicago
Window tinting for Chicago drivers and homes
Miguel tints cars right here in Chicago, in his one-car bay at 8040 S Knox Ave on the Southwest Side, near 79th and Cicero. Midway Airport is just north-west of the shop.
Chicago drivers get both ends of the weather: summer sun that bakes a parked car, then a winter that settles in for months. The shop is heated and well lit all year, so January is as good a month for tint as July. Miguel works by appointment only, takes one car at a time and does every step himself. Before you choose, he puts the films and shades in front of you on samples and a heat box.

Chicago drivers have two Union films to choose from. Union Carbon blocks 99.99% of UV, rejects 75% of infrared heat and has a deep look that holds its color. Union Ceramic gives the most heat rejection Union makes, up to 87% of infrared, and stays crystal clear. Neither has metal in it. Every pattern is cut by computer for your exact car, from a Honda Civic to a Ram 1500, and the film carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Home and business window film
Home and business window film in Chicago
Film for Chicago homes and businesses goes on where the glass is: Miguel comes to the property to measure and install it. Many Chicago homes are brick bungalows, and his past work includes one. Neutral film cuts the sun's heat while keeping a natural look, Silver adds daytime privacy, and Ceramic cuts heat and UV with low reflection. For businesses, his work includes the windows and glass door of a commercial building.

What our customers say
Questions
Window tinting questions from Chicago
Do you tint cars for people in Chicago?
Yes. Miguel's shop is in Chicago itself, at 8040 S Knox Ave on the Southwest Side, near 79th and Cicero. Cars are tinted there by appointment only. Call (773) 307-6801 or ask for a quote online to set a time.
Do you put window film on Chicago homes and businesses?
Yes. Miguel comes to the property to measure and fit the film. Union's range for homes and businesses is Neutral, Silver, Ceramic, White Out and Black Out, so heat, glare, fading and privacy can all be handled.
Can I get my car tinted in the winter?
Yes. Miguel's shop is heated and well lit all year, so cold weather doesn't stop the work. Book an appointment in any month and your car is tinted indoors.
How dark can I tint my car windows in Illinois?
It depends on the vehicle. On a car, the front side windows beside the driver can be 35%, letting in at least 35% of light, as long as no window behind the driver is darker than 35%, so keep the back windows at 35% or lighter. On an SUV, van or pickup, the windows behind the driver can be any shade, but if they're darker than 35%, like the factory privacy glass on most SUVs, trucks and vans, the front side windows must let in at least 50% of light. The windshield can only have a non-reflective strip along the top, no more than 6 inches down. A medical exemption exists with a physician's certified statement and the state's plate or sticker. Laws change, so check the current law; the Illinois Window Tint Law page has the details.
